Shklov Town Hall (Belarus)

Weather…

The Shklov Town Hall is an outstanding and rare example of late 18th-century civil and commercial architecture in Belarus. Constructed in 1772 in the Neoclassical style, this building complex once served as the bustling administrative and economic heart of the developing town. The architectural ensemble comprised not only the main town hall building but also extensive adjacent trading rows (Gostiny Dvor) that formed a large enclosed courtyard where lively markets and fairs were regularly held. The most striking feature of the structure is its elegant, octagonal clock tower, topped with a slender spire and a wrought-iron weather vane, making it a prominent local landmark. Following periods of neglect and decay in the 20th century, the entire ensemble underwent a comprehensive and meticulous historical restoration in 1999. Today, the Town Hall has been fully restored to its original splendor and houses the local history museum alongside a town gymnasium.
