Rechitsa, located on the right bank of the Dnieper River in the Gomel Region, is one of the oldest cities in Belarus, yet its modern identity is intrinsically tied to 'black gold.' While the city proudly maintains its deep historical roots, evidenced by ancient churches and historic architecture in its center, it is now predominantly recognized as the capital of Belarusian oil extraction. The discovery of oil fields in the region during the mid-20th century transformed Rechitsa into a crucial hub for the nation's energy sector. In addition to its petrochemical importance, the city is famous nationwide for its brewing heritage, home to one of the oldest and most popular breweries in Belarus. The scenic riverfront promenade along the Dnieper provides a beautiful, tranquil contrast to the city's robust industrial backbone.
