Water temperature…
Qabala, often spelled Gabala, sits at around seven hundred metres altitude on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus about two hundred and fifty kilometres north-west of Baku. In antiquity the region, known as Cabalaca, was the capital of the kingdom of Caucasian Albania and a flourishing cultural centre for over six hundred years; today the excavations of Chukhur Qabala, with city walls, coins and ceramics from the fourth century BC, bear witness to this past. Modern Qabala is one of Azerbaijan's most popular tourist destinations: the Tufandag ski resort features slopes up to 1900 metres and summer hiking trails, Lake Nohur invites for boat trips and the International Qabala Music Festival has drawn world-famous classical, jazz and Mugham performers every summer since 2009. Other sights include the Seven Beauties Waterfall and the ethnographic Caucasian Albanian church.
