Tufandag

Situated 4 kilometers from the city of Qabala, Tufandag Mountain Resort provides access to the slopes of the Greater Caucasus. The resort's main infrastructure includes a 5.8-kilometer cable car network featuring four distinct stations, reaching a maximum elevation of 1,920 meters. It has 15 kilometers of groomed ski runs, primarily catering to beginner and intermediate skiers, along with ski schools and equipment rental centers. The mountains surrounding Qabala are densely forested with oak, beech, and hornbeam trees, creating a distinct contrast to the more arid landscapes found elsewhere in Azerbaijan. The local region is famous for its chestnut forests, and Qabala cuisine frequently incorporates chestnuts into dishes like plov and meat stews, accompanied by locally produced pickles and preserves. Qabala has its own international airport, but most visitors arrive via a 220-kilometer drive from Baku, which takes about three and a half hours. While winter brings snow sports from January to March, the summer months are equally busy with paragliding, mountain biking, and hiking along the forested trails.
