Schwechat is a significant city in the state of Lower Austria, located southeast of Vienna and primarily known worldwide for the Vienna-Schwechat International Airport. The city's history dates back to Roman times when the cavalry fort Aequinoctium was situated here. A defining element of the city's history is its industrial development, particularly the founding of the Schwechat Brewery by Anton Dreher in the 18th century, which revolutionized lager beer.
