Luambe National Park (Zambia)

Weather…

Luambe National Park is one of Zambia's oldest and smallest conservation areas, strategically positioned in the heart of the Luangwa Valley between the more famous South and North Luangwa National Parks. Despite its modest size of approximately 254 square kilometers, the park is home to a remarkably high density of wildlife and ecological diversity. It was first designated as a game reserve in 1938 and formally gazetted as a national park in 1972. The landscape is defined by the meandering Luangwa River, which carves out numerous oxbow lakes and lagoons that serve as vital water sources during the dry season. Luambe is particularly famous for its massive hippopotamus populations that congregate in the river's deep pools, as well as its frequent sightings of lions, leopards, and wild dogs. The vegetation transitions from dense mopane woodlands to open grasslands, providing an easy on the eye backdrop for game viewing. Due to its off-the-beaten-path location, Luambe gives a private and exclusive safari experience far from the typical tourist crowds.
