Water temperature…
Synevyr is more than just a village; it is the gateway to the most famous natural wonder of the inner Carpathians. The centerpiece is Lake Synevyr, located at 989 meters above sea level and often referred to as the 'Sea Eye'. Legend has it that the lake was formed from the tears of a count's daughter named Syn, who wept for her beloved shepherd, Vyr. A small island in the center of the deep blue water resembles a pupil, completing the 'eye' image. The lake is surrounded by 140-160-year-old spruce and fir trees, creating an atmosphere of mystical silence. While swimming is prohibited due to the low water temperature and its protected status, the hiking trails around the shore offer spectacular photo opportunities. Nearby, you can find the only Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center in Ukraine, where bears rescued from poor conditions live in a natural forest environment. Visitors can stay in traditional wooden lodges and enjoy local 'Kolyba' cuisine, famous for its wild mushroom dishes and berry desserts. The area is also known for its rich folk traditions and clean mountain air. Whether you seek quiet contemplation by the water or adventurous hiking through the National Park, Synevyr features a profound connection to the wild heart of the Carpathians.
