Kibale National Park

Kibale National Park is considered the 'primate capital' of the world. The dense tropical rainforest is home to 13 different primate species, including Uganda's largest population of chimpanzees. Chimpanzee tracking is the main experience, offering visitors the chance to watch our closest relatives playing and feeding in their natural habitat. Besides monkeys, the park is famous for its colorful butterflies and over 300 bird species. Another highlight is the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary on the edge of the park, convenient for nature walks. The region around Fort Portal also gives easy on the eye tea estates and crater lakes. The best time to visit is the dry season (June to September). Access is via the town of Fort Portal, which is well-connected to the national road network. Dining in the lodges ranges from international cuisine to local dishes like kalo (millet bread).
