Schilthorn (Switzerland)

Weather…

The Schilthorn is a world-renowned mountain peak in the Bernese Alps, reaching an elevation of 2,970 meters. Located above the car-free village of Mürren, it has one of the most spectacular views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks, which are part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Schilthorn gained international fame through the James Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', filmed on the summit in 1968. The distinctive revolving restaurant, 'Piz Gloria', completes a full rotation in 45 minutes, providing guests with a 360-degree panoramic view. Reaching the summit is convenient via a modern aerial cableway that operates in four stages from Stechelberg in the valley. For hikers, the mountain provides challenging paths, including the famous ridge walk from the Birg middle station. The technical development of the mountain in the 1960s was a pioneering feat of engineering. Today, the Schilthorn is a year-round destination, attracting skiers in winter and tourists from across the globe in summer.
