Trümmelbach Falls (Switzerland)

Weather…

The Trümmelbach Falls are unique worldwide as they drain the meltwater from the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau glaciers inside the mountain itself. Up to 20,000 liters of water per second plunge with a thundering roar through the narrow rock galleries. The falls have been made accessible via a tunnel funicular and illuminated platforms, allowing visitors to witness this natural spectacle up close without getting soaked. The massive water flow carries approximately 20,000 tons of debris and rock flour annually, showcasing the immense power of erosion. The Lauterbrunnen Valley, also known as the Valley of 72 Waterfalls, provides numerous hiking trails surrounding the site. Nearby are the famous alpine villages of Mürren and Wengen. The falls are only open during the summer months (April to November), as they freeze over in winter. The best time to visit is after the snowmelt in June or following heavy rain, when the roar is at its most powerful.
