Water temperature…
Pompaples is a municipality in the Canton of Vaud, which became famous primarily for its unique location on the European watershed. In the "Le Milieu du Monde" (The Middle of the World) district, there is a historical mill where the water of the Nozon brook is artificially divided. One part flows via the Talent and the Aare into the Rhine and thus into the North Sea, while the other part reaches the Rhone and the Mediterranean via the Venoge. This geographical peculiarity has made Pompaples a well-known destination for those interested in geography. Historically, the village was agriculturally oriented and belonged to the Lordship of Saint-Loup in the Middle Ages. An important part of local history is also the Saint-Loup Hospital, founded in 1852 as one of the first deaconess institutions in Switzerland. The architecture of the place is typical of the Vaud countryside, with well-preserved buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Geographically, Pompaples lies on the edge of the foot of the Jura and provides wide views across the Mittelland. Today, the municipality is primarily a residential area but preserves its identity through the maintenance of its natural monuments and historical sites.
