Epalinges is located in the Canton of Vaud and directly borders the city of Lausanne. The municipality extends along the edge of the Jorat plateau, offering spectacular views of Lake Geneva and the Savoy Alps from many vantage points. Since the construction of the driverless M2 metro line, Epalinges has been perfectly connected to central Lausanne, making it one of the most sought-after residential areas in the region. The municipality is globally renowned as the home of the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), the oldest and most prestigious hospitality management school in the world. Beyond education and residential appeal, Epalinges has emerged as a key center for life sciences and biotechnology through the Biopôle science park. Despite its modern growth, the community has preserved vast forested areas of the Jorat, which serve as a vital local recreation zone. Historically a farming village, Epalinges rapidly transformed into a modern suburban municipality during the 20th century while maintaining its exclusive character.
