Nimule National Park (South Sudan)

Weather…

Nimule National Park is a protected area in southeastern South Sudan, bordering Uganda. Established in 1954, it is one of the oldest parks in the country, covering 410 km². The park lies along the Victoria Nile and features riverine forest, savanna, and the scenic Nimule Falls. It is home to diverse wildlife, including chimpanzees, olive baboons, elephants, buffaloes, and hippopotamuses. During the civil wars, poaching reduced animal numbers, but conservation efforts since 2005 have led to recovery. The park is part of the Murchison Falls-Nimule transboundary ecosystem, facilitating wildlife movement. In 2017, a survey counted 200 elephants. Visitor facilities include a rest house and campsite. Nimule is accessible by road from Juba, about 200 km away. The park features game drives and boat trips along the Nile.
