Fula Rapids

Fula Rapids is one of the most dramatic natural features of the White Nile. At this point, the mighty river narrows and surges over rocky formations, creating a deafening roar and spectacular spray. Located within Nimule National Park, the rapids are not only a visual marvel but also a prime location for spotting wildlife, such as hippos, crocodiles, and an array of water birds that frequent the riverbanks. Visitors are drawn to the site to experience the raw, untamed energy of the Nile. The surrounding lush greenery and savanna landscape offer great opportunities for photography and nature walks. While there are discussions about utilizing the site for hydroelectric power, it currently remains a pristine natural attraction. The interplay of light and water during sunrise makes it an unforgettable sight. Access is relatively good via the Juba-Nimule road. The best time to visit is near the end of the rainy season when the water volume is high and the rapids are at their most powerful.
