Cervinjak Castle
Červinjak Castle, historically also known as Schwanberg Castle, is located near Vojnik and is closely linked to the history of the Counts of Celje. The complex was first mentioned in the 13th century and originally served as a fortress to secure the territory against rival noble families. Over the centuries, the castle frequently changed hands and was rebuilt several times, transforming from a medieval defensive structure into a more habitable residence. Particularly in the 16th century under the rule of the Gaisruck family, the castle underwent significant architectural expansions. Despite the destruction and decay in later centuries, the ruins and surviving parts remain a testament to the strategic importance of the Celje region. The complex today gives an insight into the feudal structure of old Lower Carniola and the architectural trends of the Renaissance. Visitors appreciate the castle's location, which has a wide view over the Savinja valley and illustrates the historical connection with the surrounding castles.
