💡 Tips
- The steep cobbled streets of the historic center can be slippery when wet, so wear comfortable, flat walking shoes.
- If arriving from Bratislava, taking the local train is often faster and avoids the traffic on the main road.
- Many historic wine cellars (viechy) open to the public mainly on weekends or during special wine events; check local schedules beforehand.
- The hike up to the Biely Kameň castle ruins gives great views but the trail is unpaved; bring water as there are no facilities at the top.

Water temperature…
Svätý Jur, located on the eastern slopes of the Little Carpathians in close proximity to Bratislava, is a magical historic wine town that forms the heart of the Little Carpathian Wine Route. As a former free royal town, it has preserved its untouched historical character with narrow, winding streets, typical winemakers' houses, and old wine cellars, making the entire city center a heritage conservation area. The dominant architectural feature is the 13th-century Gothic Church of St. George, perched on a hill, which has a valuable white sandstone altar, along with the unique wooden bell tower beside it. Svätý Jur is also surrounded by the mystical ruins of Biely Kameň (White Stone) Castle, hidden deep within the dense forests above the city. The rich tradition of viticulture, continued uninterrupted since the Middle Ages, makes the city a premier destination for wine lovers and tourists.
