A highlight for visitors is watching the massive locks in action, where huge river cruise ships and freighters are raised or lowered within minutes. The surroundings of Gabčíkovo are a paradise for nature lovers and athletes. The flat landscape of the Danube floodplains is excellent for extensive cycling trips on the international Danube Cycle Path.
