Čachtice Manor (Slovakia)

Weather…

The Čachtice Manor, also known as the Draškovič Mansion, is a prominent Renaissance building located in the village of Čachtice, dating back to 1610. It was commissioned by the Draškovič family, high-ranking officials in the Kingdom of Hungary, to serve as a luxurious residential alternative to the nearby fortress. The mansion features a classic U-shaped floor plan and underwent several Baroque modifications in the late 17th and 18th centuries. While the hilltop castle is famous for the dark legend of Elizabeth Báthory, this manor represents the architectural and social advancement of the local nobility. Throughout its history, it passed through the hands of the Forgách and Esterházy families before becoming a public monument. Today, it serves as a branch of the Trenčín Museum, housing extensive collections on local history, traditional crafts, and historical clothing. The well-preserved interiors and exhibits make it a key destination for understanding the feudal heritage of Western Slovakia.
