Getting there
The dreamy bay on the north coast is easily accessible by rental car or taxi from the capital, with the road generally in an acceptable condition. The final few meters down to the beach are navigated via a short, natural footpath.
Best season
The bay remains an attractive destination year-round, but the drier months from June to September offer the clearest waters for snorkeling. During the hotter rainy season, the sea can occasionally become slightly clouded by water runoff.
Terrain & paths
The pretty beach is composed of a mixture of fine sand and smooth, dark volcanic stones, surrounded by striking baobab trees. The water mostly deepens gradually, allowing for an easy and highly pleasant entry into the sea.
What to bring
Be absolutely sure to bring your own snorkeling gear, as the rocky edges of the bay conceal a lively and diverse underwater world. Water shoes are helpful against sharp stones, and you must bring all your own food and water.
Parking
Above the bay, there are usually informal parking spaces along the unpaved road situated near the old lighthouse. There are no guarded parking facilities, so prepare to simply leave your vehicle near the surrounding baobab trees.
Safety
The bay is generally well protected from rough waves, making it a relatively safe spot for a relaxing swim. However, watch out for sea urchins while snorkeling and always respect the local currents when venturing further out.

Many visitors effortlessly spend a delightful half-day here to enjoy the tranquility, swim in the turquoise water, and have a picnic. It is one of the most photogenic spots on the island, where the hours can quickly slip away.
