Yeysk
Yeysk is the northernmost resort of the Krasnodar region, situated on a peninsula surrounded by the Sea of Azov and the Taganrog Bay. It is renowned for the Yeysk Spit, a narrow strip of land that gives sandy beaches on both sides. The sea here is exceptionally shallow and warms up quickly, making it a safe haven for families with small children and a top spot for beginners in water sports. The town preserves an appealing provincial atmosphere with 19th-century architecture and lush parks like the Poddubny Park. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are the main draws for active travelers, as the wind conditions on the spit are some of the best in Russia. The therapeutic mud from Lake Khanskoye is another reason visitors flock to local health resorts. Local markets offer an abundance of fresh fruit, vegetables, and fish from the Azov Sea, such as pike-perch. Yeysk is accessible by train or bus from nearby major cities. The best time for a visit is from late May to August when the shallow waters reach their most comfortable temperatures. Yeysk is well-suited for those seeking a quiet escape combined with active leisure, offering a more relaxed pace of life than the larger Black Sea resorts.
