Its name relates to the historical glassworks that once thrived here, a tradition that is still celebrated in local museums and glass boutiques. The region's subalpine climate is exceptionally clean and beneficial for health, making it a popular wellness destination since the 19th century. The town's natural highlights include two magnificent waterfalls: Kamieńczyk Waterfall, the highest in the Polish Karkonosze at 27 meters, and the easily accessible Szklarki Waterfall. Skiers and snowboarders flock to Mount Szrenica (1362 m), which provides extensive slopes and modern lift facilities.
