The Poznań Town Hall is a magnificent Renaissance structure that serves as the centerpiece of the Old Market Square. Originally built in the 13th century in Gothic style, it was extensively redesigned in the mid-16th century by the Italian architect Giovanni Battista di Quadro following a major fire. The main facade features an impressive three-story loggia and an attic decorated with images of Polish kings from the Jagiellonian dynasty. A world-famous feature of the clock tower is the daily appearance of two mechanical goats at noon, which butt heads twelve times to the delight of onlookers. Inside, the building houses the Museum of Poznań's History, with the Great Hall being its most spectacular room due to its ornate ceiling. It is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Italian Renaissance architecture north of the Alps. Despite sustaining significant damage during World War II, it was carefully reconstructed to its former glory.
