Lubań is one of the oldest towns in Lower Silesia, picturesquely situated on the Kwisa River. The town looks back on a rich and varied history, which is reflected in its architecture. Particularly impressive are the almost completely preserved medieval city walls with their bastions and the distinctive Bracka Tower. A walk along the walls transports visitors back to the time of knights and merchants. The heart of the town is the market square with its Renaissance town hall, which was rebuilt after being destroyed in World War II. The region around Lubań is also known for its volcanic formations, such as the basalt rock of the Lubański Forest, which is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. Culinarily, Lower Silesia provides hearty dishes, including the famous Silesian dumplings. The proximity to Germany and the Czech Republic makes Lubań an attractive destination for cross-border excursions, for example to Görlitz or the Jizera Mountains. Getting to Lubań is straightforward. By car, the town is accessible via the A4 motorway and well-developed country roads. There are also regular train connections from major Polish cities like Wrocław. The best time to visit is in summer, when numerous festivals and markets take place and the weather is well-suited for exploring the town and its surroundings.
