Artus Court (Poland)

Weather…

Artus Court, situated on the prestigious Long Market in Gdańsk, was for centuries the bustling social and economic epicenter for the city's wealthy patricians and merchants. Inspired by the chivalric ideals of the King Arthur legends, this magnificent building served from the 14th century onward as the exclusive meeting place for elite merchant brotherhoods. Following a devastating fire, Artus Court received its current architectural form in 1476, while its impressive Mannerist facade was redesigned by Abraham van den Blocke in 1616. The centerpiece of the interior is the spectacular Great Hall, an architectural masterpiece featuring a complex stellar vault supported by only three slender pillars. The absolute highlight is the massive, richly decorated Renaissance tile stove, which, standing at over 10 meters tall, is widely considered the largest of its kind in the world.
