Vindafjord is a municipality in northern Rogaland county, established in its current form in 2006 following the merger of Vindafjord and Ølen. The administrative centre is Ølensjøen, a busy village situated at the head of the Ølenfjord. The local economy is diverse, featuring a strong agricultural foundation alongside significant industrial activity, particularly in shipbuilding and oil and gas services. Geographically, the area is characterized by deep fjords like the Vindafjord and Sandeidfjord, contrasted with steep mountains. A cultural landmark is the Skjold Church, which was rebuilt in a modern style after a fire in 1992. The region is popular for hiking, with many trails leading to scenic viewpoints such as the summit of Gråhorga. Vindafjord serves as an important regional service hub for the surrounding rural communities.
