Skjold is a historic village and former municipality within the current Vindafjord municipality in Rogaland. Situated along the scenic Skjoldafjord, the village acts as a cultural hub for the surrounding rural region. The history of Skjold is deeply intertwined with farming and fjord-based shipping. A standout landmark is the modern Skjold Church, consecrated in 1998 after the previous wooden church was destroyed by arson. The architecture of the new church is unique, blending contemporary forms with traditional symbolism. Skjold maintains a peaceful rural atmosphere with well-preserved farmsteads and rolling hills. The village serves as an important local centre with schools, shops, and social services for the southern part of Vindafjord. The surrounding nature is excellent for boating on the fjord and hiking through the lush, wooded areas.
