Water temperature…
Vøringsfossen is arguably Norway's most famous waterfall, located at the junction where the Hardangervidda mountain plateau meets the Måbødalen valley. The water of the Bjoreia river plunges a total of 182 meters, with a vertical drop of 145 meters. A highlight for modern travelers is the spectacular step bridge opened in 2020, which spans the waterfall and features dizzying views down into the rugged canyon. Several architectural lookout points provide safe and diverse perspectives of the cascading water and the frequent rainbows formed by the mist. The area has been a tourist magnet since the late 19th century, evidenced by the historic Fossli Hotel, built on the cliff edge in 1891. Visitors can explore the site via the easy-to-reach upper viewing decks or take a more adventurous hike from the valley floor to the base of the falls. Located along National Tourist Route 7, it is a first-rate stop on the scenic drive between Oslo and Bergen. Nearby Eidfjord gives opportunities to sample local delicacies such as Hardanger apple cider and freshly caught fjord trout, rounding out a classic Norwegian nature experience.
