Kaesong Historic City

Kaesong is a historic city in southern North Korea that served as the capital of the Koryo Dynasty (918-1392), playing a pivotal role in Korean history. The city is renowned for its remarkably well-preserved architecture and numerous archaeological sites, which were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013. Key monuments include the Manwoldae Palace ruins, the Namdaemun gate, and the Koryo Songgyungwan, which ranks among the oldest educational institutions in the world.
