Water temperature…
Midelt is located in central Morocco, situated on a high plateau between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountain ranges at an elevation of about 1,500 meters. The city serves as a crucial administrative hub and a transit point on the main highway connecting the northern metropolitan areas to the Tafilalet desert regions. Geographically, the area experiences a semi-arid climate with significant temperature fluctuations, including some of the harshest winters in Morocco with frequent snowfall. Midelt was established in the early 20th century as a French military outpost but expanded rapidly following the discovery of lead and zinc deposits in the nearby Mibladen and Aouli mines. While mining has declined, the city has reinvented itself as the center of Morocco's apple production, supported by irrigation projects in the surrounding valleys. Midelt is a key destination for geologists and mineral collectors due to the rare specimens found in its vicinity, and it acts as a base for treks to Jbel Ayachi, the highest peak in the eastern High Atlas. The local culture is an animated blend of Berber heritage, showcased through traditional carpet weaving and the annual Apple Festival.
