Tazekka National Park (Morocco)

Weather…

The Tazekka National Park was established in 1950 in the Middle Atlas mountains near the city of Taza, originally to protect a striking grove of Atlas cedars on the summit of Jbel Tazekka (1,980m). Since its creation, the park's area has been significantly expanded to cover approximately 13,737 hectares, showcasing exceptional geological and biological diversity. The region is characterized by deep canyons, underground cave systems such as the famous Friouato cave, and dense forests of cedar, cork oak, and holm oak. Fauna residing here include the reintroduced Barbary stag, as well as wild boars, foxes, and various rare birds of prey. The moist microclimate of the Middle Atlas supports a rich flora with many endemic plant species. The park is a major destination for hikers and naturalists who appreciate its pristine landscapes and the remarkable panoramic views from the mountain ridges.
