💡 Tips
- The main highlight is the Mar Chica lagoon; stroll along the modern corniche for the best views.
- Nador is less focused on traditional tourism and more on local commerce, offering a very authentic Moroccan-Rifian experience.
- If you want a great beach day, take a grand taxi to nearby Cap de l'Eau (Ras El Ma) or Charrana Beach.
- Spanish influences are still visible and sometimes spoken, alongside the local Tamazight (Tarifit) language.
🍽 Food
Head to the restaurants near the lagoon or take a short trip to Ras El Ma for freshly grilled fish and shrimp.
Due to the Spanish influence, local sandwich shops serve excellent 'bocadillos' filled with tuna, olives, and salad.
Enjoy heavily sweetened mint tea at a cafe along the corniche while people-watching.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
A sprawling market where you can find everything from imported clothing and electronics to local food.
Look out for rustic, unglazed pottery typical of the Rif mountains sold by street vendors.
The promenade is well-suited for a quiet morning walk before the city wakes up.
Take a trip outside the city to the cliffs of Cap de l'Eau for the sound of crashing waves and fresh sea air.

Nador is a major coastal city in northeastern Morocco, situated on the edge of the Marchica lagoon on the Mediterranean Sea. The city serves as a central commercial and transport hub for the Rif region and is located in close proximity to the Spanish enclave of Melilla. Historically, the area was a Berber settlement before coming under Spanish influence in the 19th century, which is still reflected in the architecture of some older districts. Nador's economic base has shifted in recent decades from agriculture and mining toward trade and tourism. Specifically, the 'Marchica Med' mega-project aims to ecologically restore the lagoon and develop it as an international tourist destination. With the nearby port of Beni Ensar, Nador has direct ferry connections to Europe, making the city an important gateway for Moroccan migrants and international commodity trade.
