The Župa Nikšićka region is a prominent geographical and economic area in the central part of Montenegro, located east of the city of Nikšić. This fertile valley is traversed by the Gračanica River and surrounded by the Prekornica and Maganik mountain ranges, which create a specific microclimate well-suited for diverse agriculture. Historically, the region served as a hub for livestock breeding and farming, while today it focuses on the production of potatoes, fruits, and cereals. Beyond agriculture, Župa is internationally recognized for its significant bauxite deposits, which have fueled the country's aluminum industry for decades. The extraction of this ore in the Biočki Stan and Zagrad mines has fundamentally shaped the regional infrastructure and labor market. Recently, agrotourism has gained importance as visitors are drawn to the traditional lifestyle and pristine natural landscapes. The local community takes pride in preserving cultural customs and historical monuments, such as the St. Luke's Monastery, which dates back to the 15th century.
