Tsambagarav National Park protects one of Western Mongolia's most impressive snow-capped peaks. Adventurers flock here to marvel at pristine glaciers and trek through extreme high-altitude landscapes. The region is famous for its rich wildlife, including the rare snow leopard, and features deep insights into the lives of Kazakh and Uriankhai nomadic tribes. The mountain's cultural importance is immense, having been worshiped as a sacred site for centuries. Visitors can witness traditional eagle hunting practices, which remain lively in this remote Khovd province. The scenery shifts from barren rocks to lush alpine meadows, creating fantastic contrasts for photographers and nature enthusiasts alike. Access is usually via the towns of Ölgii or Khovd using 4WD vehicles. The best time to visit is from July to August when mountain passes are clear of snow and temperatures are moderate. There are no fixed hotels, so camping near nomad families or in ger camps is the most authentic way to experience the area.
