- It is much quieter and more family-oriented than neighboring Palanga; well-suited for a relaxed, low-key beach holiday.
- Many small beach vendors prefer cash over cards, so it is a good idea to have some euros on hand.
- Rent a paddleboard or kayak to explore the calm waters of the Šventoji River.

Water temperature…
Šventoji is a pleasant coastal resort located just north of Palanga, near the Latvian border. Offering a more tranquil and family-oriented alternative to its busier neighbor, it radiates a nostalgic summer vibe. The town is situated at the pretty confluence of the Šventoji River and the Baltic Sea. One of its most iconic features is the 'Monkey Bridge' (Beždžionių tiltas), a wobbly pedestrian suspension bridge over the river. Another must-see is the 'Fisherman's Daughters' sculpture, featuring three 4-meter-high female figures standing on a dune looking out to sea. The resort is well-known for its vast collection of vintage wooden bungalows, which give Šventoji a unique retro aesthetic, though modern accommodations are increasingly available. The town's historic port, once a rival to Klaipėda, is currently being redeveloped for leisure boats. The beaches here are wide, sandy, and generally less crowded than those in major Baltic hubs. Visitors enjoy cycling through the coastal pine forests and kayaking on the calm river. The peak season is during July and August when the seaside atmosphere is at its best. Culinary offerings range from classic beach snacks to freshly caught pike-perch served in riverside eateries.
