Museum of Ethnocosmology (Lithuania)

Weather…

The Lithuanian Museum of Ethnocosmology, located near Molėtai, is a globally unique institution dedicated to exploring the profound connection between humanity, earthly culture, and the infinite cosmos. It was founded in 1990 by Gunaras Kakaras in the photogenic surroundings of Kulionys, far from the light pollution of major cities. The architecture of the museum building was extensively modernized in 2008 and today resembles a futuristic flying saucer or a cosmic tree made of glass and metal. Inside, visitors journey through exhibition halls carved into the building's underground foundation, exploring meteorites, historical astronomical instruments, and mythological artifacts. The tour culminates with an ascent to the glass observation dome situated 32 meters above ground. The museum also features two state-of-the-art telescopes, allowing visitors to observe stars, planets, and distant galaxies on clear nights.
