Dubingiai is situated on the shores of the scenic Lake Asveja, Lithuania's longest lake, stretching over 22 kilometers. The town is inextricably linked to the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, as it was one of the primary seats of the Radziwill (Radvilos) family. On the imposing castle hill, visitors can today see the ruins of the former palace and the remains of an Evangelical Reformed church, which served as a burial site for several family members. The archaeological excavations on the hill are among the most significant in the country, presented in a modern information center. Lake Asveja itself has numerous leisure opportunities, from sailing and diving to relaxing on sandy coves. A wooden bridge, one of the few of its kind in Lithuania, connects the shores and is a popular photo spot. In the vicinity, the Asveja Regional Park invites hikers to discover the typical glacial landscape. Local cuisine in Dubingiai is hearty, with lake fish being particularly popular. The best time to visit is summer, to fully enjoy the combination of culture and water sports.
