Port of Beirut (Lebanon)

Weather…

The Port of Beirut is the largest and most important seaport in Lebanon, acting as a central commercial hub in the eastern Mediterranean basin. Historically, it handled over eighty percent of Lebanese imports and exports, making it the economic lifeline of the country. The infrastructure includes specialized terminals for containers, general cargo, vehicles, and agricultural products, as well as a large grain silo that played a central role in the nation's food security. Following the devastating explosion in August 2020, which destroyed large parts of the facility and surrounding neighborhoods, extensive international and national reconstruction efforts were initiated. Thanks to its geographical location, the port forms an important link between European markets and the Asian hinterland. Its economic importance extends far beyond national borders, as it has traditionally served as a transit point for goods destined for the interior of the Middle East, particularly Syria and Jordan.
