The Beiteddine Palace is a masterpiece of early 19th-century Lebanese architecture located in the Chouf Mountains. It was built between 1788 and 1840 by Emir Bechir El Chehab II, who governed Mount Lebanon for over 50 years. The complex harmoniously blends Italian Baroque elements with traditional Arab styles, featuring magnificent courtyards, fountains, and intricate mosaic floors. Following the Emir's exile in 1840, the palace served as the administrative center for Ottoman authorities and later for the French Mandate. Since Lebanon's independence in 1943, a portion of the palace has functioned as the official summer residence of the Lebanese President. Today, the accessible parts of the palace house a museum containing a significant collection of Byzantine mosaics and historical artifacts. The site is also the venue for the prestigious Beiteddine Art Festival, a major cultural event in the Middle East.
