San Giovanni Incarico is a municipality rich in history in the province of Frosinone, strategically located at the confluence of the Sacco and Liri rivers. The town's history is closely linked to the ancient Roman city of Fabrateria Nova, whose ruins lie in the immediate vicinity and which was founded following the destruction of Fregellae. During the Middle Ages, the settlement was under the strong influence of the Abbey of Montecassino, which significantly shaped its religious and cultural development. A prominent feature of its current geography is the Lake of San Giovanni Incarico, an artificial reservoir that now serves as a nature reserve and hosts a diverse bird population. The town's historic center preserves traces of its medieval past, with churches such as San Giovanni Battista. San Giovanni Incarico served for centuries as an important border town between the Papal States and the Kingdom of Naples. The economy has traditionally been driven by agriculture and fishing in the Liri River. Today, the community has a blend of archaeological heritage, natural water landscapes, and local traditions in the Ciociaria region.
