Arce's annual patron saint festival honouring Saint Eleutherius in late May, with religious processions, brass band concerts and street celebrations through the town.
Arce is a historic municipality in the province of Frosinone, situated on the slopes of Mount San Giacomo in the Lazio region. Its strategic position along the vital route connecting Rome and Naples has defined its significance since ancient times. Originally a Volscian settlement, it later became a Roman colony and evolved into a heavily contested medieval stronghold. The Rocca d'Arce, a fortress overlooking the town, historically controlled access to the Liri Valley and remains a symbol of the town's defensive past. The urban fabric features elegant Baroque architecture, most notably the Church of SS. Pietro e Paolo, along with several noble palaces. Arce's economy is traditionally based on agriculture, particularly the cultivation of cereals, grapes, and olives in the fertile surrounding countryside. As a border town between the Papal States and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, it played a pivotal role in the geopolitical shifts leading up to the unification of Italy.
