Niavaran Complex (Iran)

Weather…

The Niavaran Complex in northern Tehran is a historical palace ensemble used during the Qajar and Pahlavi dynasties. The grounds include several magnificent buildings, such as the Niavaran Palace, the Ahmad Shahi Pavilion, and the Sahebgharanieh Palace. The main palace was completed in 1968 and served as the primary residence for Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, and his family. Notable is the modern architecture of the main building with its retractable roof that could be opened in favorable weather. The interior decoration combines Iranian art with European design and houses significant collections of paintings, carpets, and royal gifts. Surrounded by an 11-hectare garden, the complex today functions as a museum, offering an insight into the luxurious life of the former monarchy and the political history of the 20th century.
