Dwarka
Dwarka is one of the four most important pilgrimage sites (Char Dham) in India and is deeply rooted in mythology. The magnificent Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as Jagat Mandir, is the heart of the city. Its five-story structure, resting on 72 columns, is a masterpiece of ancient architecture. Devotees come here to pay homage to Lord Krishna, who is believed to have ruled his kingdom from this very spot. Another significant site is the Gomti Ghat, where the Gomti River meets the sea and pilgrims take holy baths. A short boat ride away lies Bet Dwarka island, which also houses ancient temples. For divers, the region features the unique chance to search for the ruins of the legendary sunken city of Dwarka. The local cuisine is dominated by simple yet flavorful vegetarian Gujarati thalis. Dwarka is well-connected by rail and road. The best time to visit is from October to March, particularly during the lively Janmashtami festival.
