Mount Abu
Perched in the Aravalli Range, Mount Abu is a popular sanctuary from the scorching desert heat. The town is world-renowned for the Dilwara Temples, famous for their incredibly intricate marble carvings that represent the pinnacle of Jain architecture. Nakki Lake, at the heart of the station, is handy for boating and is steeped in local legends. For nature enthusiasts, the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary has a rich variety of flora and fauna. Sunset Point is to witness the spectacular descent of the sun over the mountain ridges. Local cuisine blends Rajasthani and Gujarati influences, emphasizing fresh local produce. Reaching Mount Abu is most convenient via Abu Road railway station, located about 28 km away, with frequent connections to Delhi and Ahmedabad. The best time to visit is from March to June to escape the summer heat, or after the monsoon in September and October when the greenery is at its peak. It is an excellent destination for both spiritual seekers and trekking enthusiasts.
