Mandvi
Mandvi was once a major trading port and has retained its historical charm to this day. One of the most fascinating sights is the 400-year-old shipbuilding yard on the Rukmavati River, where massive wooden dhows are still crafted entirely by hand. Another highlight is the magnificent Vijay Vilas Palace, an architectural gem of red sandstone with sprawling gardens and a private beach, often used as a location for Bollywood films. Mandvi’s main beach invites relaxation with its clean sands and the calm waves of the Arabian Sea. Culinary-wise, the region is famous for its delicious Gujarati cuisine, particularly Dabeli, a spicy potato sandwich that originated here. The town is best reached by road from Bhuj. The convenient time to visit is during the cooler months from November to February, when the desert climate is pleasantly mild.
