Mehrangarh Fort (India)

Weather…

Mehrangarh Fort towers over the "Blue City" of Jodhpur from a 122-meter-high perpendicular cliff. It was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the ruler of the Rathore clan, when he shifted his capital from nearby Mandore to this strategic height. The fort is enclosed by massive defensive walls that reach up to 36 meters in height and 21 meters in width in certain sections. Inside, the complex features several opulent palaces known for their intricate stone lattices and expansive courtyards, such as the Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace) and the Phool Mahal (Flower Palace). It houses one of India's most well-curated museums, showcasing a vast collection of palanquins, howdahs (elephant seats), royal weaponry, and fine miniature paintings. The ramparts, still guarded by antique cannons, provide a panoramic panoramic view of the blue-painted houses of the old city below, solidifying its reputation as one of the most imposing forts in the world.
