Friguiagbé is a major agricultural hub in the Kindia Prefecture, located about 15 kilometers from the city center of Kindia in Maritime Guinea. Geographically, it sits at the base of the Gangan Massif, in an area characterized by fertile red laterite soils and a humid tropical climate. Friguiagbé is widely known as the 'orchard of Guinea,' as it produces the country's highest volumes of bananas, pineapples, and citrus fruits for both domestic and international markets. The local economy is almost entirely centered on intensive market gardening, featuring large-scale plantations alongside smallholder cooperatives. Its strategic location on the N1 national highway makes Friguiagbé a vital transit and collection point for agricultural goods being transported daily to the capital, Conakry. Beyond farming, the region is noted for its scenic beauty, dominated by the towering granite cliffs typical of the Kindia landscape. The population is a blend of Susu and Fula peoples, contributing to a rich market culture. Friguiagbé is also home to agricultural research centers focused on modernizing tropical fruit production.
