Bel Air Beach
Bel Air is a gem of the Guinean coast in the Cap Verga area. The beach stretches for several kilometers and impresses with its extremely fine, white sand, which creates a sharp contrast with the deep blue Atlantic. In the 1990s, a major luxury resort was planned here, of which some (partly ruined) buildings remain today, but this very incompleteness gives the place a special, nostalgic atmosphere. The beach is good for long walks and relaxing under coconut palms. The water here is mostly calm and clean, making it first-rate for swimming. As the location is quite isolated, a peaceful silence prevails, broken only by the sound of waves. It is the great spot to escape the bustle of Conakry for a few days. Dining is mostly at small local restaurants offering simple but delicious dishes from the fresh catch. Access requires a 4x4 vehicle as roads deteriorate after Boffa. The best time to visit is the dry season from November to May. Bel Air is a must for every beach lover willing to undertake a longer journey for a piece of paradise. There are a few simple hotels nearby offering seaside rooms. The sunrise over the ocean is particularly worth seeing here. Despite its fame, Bel Air remains a place for discoverers who value authenticity over excellent service.
