Lagodekhi Protected Areas, located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus in the Kakheti region, is the oldest nature reserve in Georgia, established in 1912. The reserve spans a dramatic altitudinal range, from subtropical-like forests in the lower valleys to alpine meadows reaching over 3,500 meters. This vertical diversity supports an exceptional level of biodiversity, including many endemic Caucasian plant species. The area is renowned for its memorable waterfalls, such as the 40-meter-high Ninoskhevi Waterfall, and the pristine Black Rock Lake situated near the border with Dagestan.
