Val-de-Moder is a dynamic municipality in Northern Alsace, established on January 1, 2016, through the merger of Pfaffenhoffen, La Walck, Uberach, and Ringeldorf. The town is situated in the scenic Moder Valley, a region known for its fertile soil and ancient trading routes. Pfaffenhoffen serves as the administrative heart, famous for hosting the Judeo-Alsatian Museum, which features a profound look into the local Jewish community's history and heritage in Alsace. The district of La Walck has a strong industrial legacy, particularly in shoemaking, which flourished throughout the 20th century. Modern Val-de-Moder successfully balances industrial development with cultural preservation, maintaining beautiful timber-framed houses and traditional Alsatian bakeries. Geographically, it is a gateway to the Northern Vosges Regional Natural Park, offering residents and visitors access to pristine forests and hiking trails. The town's economy is now diversified, including light manufacturing, logistics, and a growing tourism sector focused on regional heritage and Gastronomy.
