Schweighouse-sur-Moder is an Alsatian community in Bas-Rhin, distinguished by its strategic location on the Moder River and its direct proximity to the town of Haguenau. The history of the area is deeply rooted in Rhenish culture and was long characterized by agriculture before rapid industrialization took hold in the 20th century. Today, Schweighouse is a major economic hub, hosting large industrial zones that are home to international companies in the automotive and mechanical engineering sectors. Despite its industrial focus, the municipality has maintained its identity and features a high quality of life thanks to the adjacent Haguenau Forest, one of the largest forested areas in France. The proximity to Strasbourg also makes Schweighouse an attractive residential location for commuters seeking to combine small-town peace with the employment opportunities of a large metropolitan area.
